PNH Security Engineering · Hostile Vehicle Mitigation

Model the real approach. Solve the critical impact speed. Right-size the barrier, in minutes.

VECTOR solves the critical impact speed along the entire approach path, every straight and curve, friction- and powertrain-limited with EV instant torque included. It then evaluates that one impact in parallel under ASTM F2656, ASTM F3016 and ISO 22343-1, returns the effective rating under each, and documents all of it beside the legacy check in a report.

Screening estimate

29.7 mph at impact. The vehicle starts from a stop and the short run-up caps the speed. M30 is the effective rating for the 15,000-lb design vehicle. The legacy check assumed 42.4 mph and demanded an M50.

Approach path from a stop through a curb return to the barrier line, reaching 29.7 mph at impact
Worked example · 149 ft from a stop limits reachable speed · the legacy single-radius check assumes 42.4 mph (M50) at this bend · N.T.S.

One impact. Three standards, evaluated in parallel

VECTOR evaluates every approach under ASTM F2656, ASTM F3016 and ISO 22343-1 at the same time and reports what each standard requires for the same impact. You select the governing framework for the project; the other two stay on screen as alternatives, and the withdrawn legacy editions are listed for interpreting existing installations only. Determinations are parallel, not equivalent: each is derived from the same impact vector under that standard's own test vehicles, speed tiers and penetration classes.

Not applicable

Governing framework: U.S. Federal / DoD / DoS. Legacy equivalents, withdrawn: IWA 14-1 V/7200[N2A]/48/90 · PAS 68 V/7500[N2]/48/90. DoS K-rating cross-reference: K4 (informational only).

Governing framework by project

U.S. Federal / DoD / DoS (ASTM F2656), commercial storefront and pedestrian (ASTM F3016), or international / UK NPSA (ISO 22343-1).

Two readings under each standard

Energy-equivalence and class-anchored. Where they differ, the more onerous governs and the report says why.

Product-rating check

Paste a certificate rating such as F2656-23 M50-P1 or V/7500[N3]/80/90:2.2 and VECTOR states whether it envelopes the threat, with the reasons.

What VECTOR does

Every straight and curve.

Friction- and powertrain-limited, with EV instant torque included. A three-pass solve applies curvature limits in every bend and a braking envelope back from each downstream constraint.

Both readings, side by side.

VECTOR beside the legacy single-radius check, and three standards evaluated in parallel, with the effective rating under each and the penetration class from your setback.

A report in minutes.

Every input recorded and the screening basis stated, or an engineer-reviewed and signed issue.

One standards registry.

Withdrawn editions are flagged and never shown as current.

What VECTOR computes

01

Critical velocity profile

A three-pass solve over the whole approach: curvature limits in every bend, traction- and power-limited acceleration on the straights, and a braking envelope back from each downstream constraint — coupled through the friction circle.

Vehicle path through a tight bend with braking and acceleration zones
02

Effective rating

The perpendicular kinetic energy at the barrier line sets the effective rating under ASTM F2656, an ASTM F3016 S-rating where the vector falls inside the low-speed envelope, and the ISO 22343-1 vehicle class and speed tier, each with the required penetration class from your setback. Two readings are taken under each standard, energy-equivalence and class-anchored, and the more onerous governs.

03

Documented report

A complete input register, method comparison against the legacy single-radius check, both figures, and the full limitations and disclaimer package — or an engineer-reviewed and signed issue.
